I don't get it, what's so hard about doing footers in CSS? You know you can use enclosure DIV tags to position layout divs right?

Here's how I did a footer in CSS.

Err... my target="_blank" got stripped out of my anchor. You'll probably want to shift-click that link to open it in a new window.

the target=_blank stripping thing is weird... probably that stupid new feature of mt that im going to fix shortly.

show me with a 3 column layout, then ill believe you and learn to leave css coding to the non-blonde.

(the whole id vs. class thing stumps me, too. i should get a book or something and quit trying to plod my way through it. because thats obviously working.)

Gimme a few and I'll come up with a three-column version.

As for class vs. ID, think of it this way: when you're in Social Studies, you're part of a class, but your student ID card is individual to you. ID only represents 1 particular DIV on a page while class can be used to style several DIVs in the same document. Plus, using ID, you can have child objects.

Viola - 3-column layout.

Also, take a look at the doc type in the header. It's perfectly acceptable to use tables for multi-column layouts in transitional documents (plus, if you use tables, your layouts are the same even if the person has CSS disabled). CSS purity is nice, but not if it doesn't work.

dont tell me you created that ugly graphic just for this experiment with my ignorance.

howd you get the whole big box shebang thing centered? with the body {text-align:center;} thingy?

i should just give up now; i have no idea why that works for you.

Graphic: yes, I created it just for this :)

Centering: the BODY section acts as an all-encompassing DIV, so "text-align: center" aligns the contents of that section to the middle.

If you want to email me I'll be glad to explain what I'm doing and why. I can also point you to a bunch of really good CSS resources.

very iiiinteresting.

my ignorance assumed text-align only specified text alignment. silly me.

the target attribute is no longer stripped from comments.
