mostly because im now using a tabbed browser for the majority of my online experience, but slightly for usability purposes, links on the site should no longer open in a new browser window.

Boo! Bad form on a blog, IMHO. Makes users who don't use tabs have to navigate back to your post to comment.
for users who have little experience on the web (like my mom, for instance), they get very confused when the browser pops up a new window and the back button is disabled.
and actually, the only thing keeping me from changing this was that i wasnt using a tabbed browser. if someone clicks on one of my links and doesnt return, then i feel that i have provided them an interesting link; my job has been accomplished.
if your mom were reading the site, i'd care. well, you'd care. i wouldn't. if someone is so inept that they cannot figure out what a "new window" is, then they need to just get out of the pool, or learn to surf.
i find it painfully annoying that i have to keep clicking back to return to your site. down with tabbed browser users!
hold down the shift key when clicking a link : new window.
Yeah, but now you're just making extra work for us. :P
your life is too easy as it is. ;}
