14 Love Notes

Looks like conveniently packaged nightmares.

Buy the comic books; they're better and you support the actual author and artist.

I bought these back when I was in high school, and still have the entire run at home somewhere. Dave Louapre was a genius, and I still wonder what happened to him. Dan Sweetman now works in film storyboarding, which is a loss to the world.

BSFUC was an amazing hallmark in comics and one of very few things worth reading out of the ill-fated DC Pirahna Press line.

wow. i wasn't afraid of clowns before. but i think i am now.

Shep, thanks for the kind words. Sweetman and I are working to get BSFUC set up as a television series. Tha's all I can tell you for now.

D.L.

Man, I was wondering what happened to those guys. Talent always wins, doesn't it?

Dan, Dave... you guys probably created one of the best and most overlooked comic series of the 90's. I hope you two get back to work soon. Keep us updated.

Justin, thanks for the nice sentiments. The main thing we're doing now, apart from the BSFUC television development, is that we've optioned A Cotton Candy Autopsy and I'm writing the script at the moment. Hopefully all will go well and we'll be shooting next Spring, but there's never any guarantee. That's pretty much all I can say at this point. Thanks for your interest. D.L.

Hey, Dave... while you are out there - I am a musician/animator - I recently finished a 24min. absurd/surreal stop-motion animation film titled "Tephrasect" that is probably right up your alley. I would love for you to cruise on over to my website and watch it. I also have a shorter film titled "Zugskin" that is equally grotesque. Love some feedback (if you have the time).

Maybe this is the place to start- I do not know.
I, too, have been affected by the majesty of BSFUC (recently re-read 'The Night they Missed the Donkey Show' looking for Lansdale references- but I digress)...
I love 'Beneath the Useless Universe' and have for years wanted to film it- I am a small-timey filmmaker in Prince George, BC- Canada and have been looking for ways to get in touch with either Dan or Dave-

How? Who?

Sorry to bother everyone.

James

James, thanks for the nice sentiments, but sorry, all of the BSFUC material is tied up right now between two projects for TV and film. And by the way, anyone who needs to contact Dan or I can do so by writing via D.C. Comics. They forward all mail to us. Best of luck on your own projects. Oh, and Joe Lansdale toured England and Scotland with us back in the day. That Donkey Show title was a tribute to him. In fact, Joe and I came up with Lester the Lonesome Druid while touring Stonehenge. He's a great guy. D.L.

Yeah- I thought as much.
I guess that is a good thing for you but knowing how studios work I am hoping you are working with HBO or showtime or it may get messed with.
Are you still writing?
Is there anything out there that I (we) can look for to tide us over until the... day?
I'm glad everything is going good for you, too because you are a great writer and more people need to see your stuff... much like Lansdale.
You take care and keep in touch.
James

There will be more and more posted soon. This site will also be linked with the BSFUC home page at
beautifulstoriesforuglychildren.com which is under construction.

Spread the word.
