alaska highway information

March 18, 2004

anyone who has ever done any road travel in alaska would know how difficult it is to find the toll-free number for highway information.

myself, i can never find it.

but in this wonderful new century, the world wide web (or, as some people refer to it, the Internet) comes to the rescue. because alaska highway information is online!

this will come in much handiness this weekend.
oh yes.

They should do something like New York City did... for any city service at all, you dial 311. I've not called it myself, but reportedly it works pretty well.

since the site is 511.com it looks like we could call 511 for driving info. Of course one would never abndon an internet method but 511 isn't such a hard number to remember - right?

511? when did that happen? it used to be an 800 number. 511 is MUCH easier to remember.

yeah, it's like the 411 for driving. ;)

btw, there is a difference between the world wide web and the internet, if you want to get picky.
