I have *never* understood the national fascination with Walmart. It's crowded, it's dirty, the aisles are narrow, the lighting is terrible, and the merchandise is mostly cheap, poorly made junk that won't last.
The *only* thing I can see going for it is that the stuff is cheap. But when you buy something, you're not just paying for the ownership of the item -- you're also paying for the experience of shopping, which includes how pleasant the atmosphere is and how friendly/professional the employees are, not to mention the quality of the item itself. In all of those areas, Walmart gets a failing grade.
On a side note, Walmart has just started opening stores in Japan. But if you go into one, you won't see the word "Walmart" anywhere -- the stores call themselves "Seiyu". Seems like Wallyworld was afraid their reputation would precede them... :)

Totally off topic time!!! I was at Cosmic Kitchen today for lunch and the picture you moved of the flowers so you didn't have to look at the dead fish is still there, they have yet to change it. Just wanted you to know that.

Never seen a walmart let alone visted one. We don't have them on Staten Island, and I always get lost in NJ.
I hear they are now offering free healings with every slurpie purchase. What a bargain!
