changes in the tide
when does 'having a party' turn into a 'dinner party'?
when does 'hanging out with friends' turn into 'having company over'?
is it an age thing? the moment i turn thirty? thirty-five?
is it a status thing? when i dont have any 'friends' but only 'acquaintances'?
or is it merely a generational thing?
whatever it is, whenever it is, i am not looking forward to it.

2 Love Notes
I hope this change isn't a mandated rite of passage. If so I'll fight it off for as long as possible.
Having a party: people stand, eat junk and drink beer/soda. Noise level: high.
Dinner party: people sit, eat a proper meal and drink wine/(something non-alcoholic). Noise level: low to moderate.
It's not an age or generational thing per se, but the former is far more likely to appeal to younger people, and the latter is far more likely to appeal to older people.
