Note well that this is not just the result of people using an insecure browser (IE), but also the result of businesses using an insecure server (IIS). The sites affected by this have actually committed a double folly by using a server with a bad security record *and* by not applying the available patch from Microsoft in a timely manner.
If you find that you are banking or doing business with a company that has been compromised by this attack, you should think about switching to an institution that places a higher priority on keeping your sensitive information secure.

Just tell them to install Firefox and never use Internet Explorer again. Problem solved. ;)
