shes in there

last night i announced to my husband and my dog and the world that i would be getting up a whole half hour earlier than usual in order to go for a jog.

his most appropriate response?
'where is my wife and what have you done to her?'

i will tell you where she is.
she is hidden under layers and layers of blubber.

she hid herself away when her sister died and she couldnt handle living alone in a world that could take away the person she loved the most. so she packed on the quickest armor she could find and has been surviving - but only just - under that armor.

shedding the armor will be much more difficult and time-consuming than putting it on, but i think she is ready for the fight. she is tired of being hidden and now longs to breathe fresh air.

but rest assured, she is still in there.

5 Love Notes

Good for you!! After we quit smoking I gained some extra baggage. I started running for the first time in my life and it makes me feel so good to get out there and do it. But then I was always part of that group who walked the mile in school, I'm so glad I'm not one of "them" anymore. I'm excited for you and I bet you'll love it.

Tip: with insecurities of my own I learned its impossible to breath through my nose and keep my mouth shut when I run (to much panting I guess). I started chewing gum. Having something to bite on thru the wheezing makes all the difference, not to mention saves on bringing a water bottle and feeling like I look dumb.

i was a part of that same group, walking the mile. my class was extremely athletic, and if you didnt finish the mile under 8 minutes you were seen as slow and fat. i have a lot of insecurities to overcome with excercise, but that is why im choosing to do it early in thr morning before anyone is out looking at and judging me. thanks for the tip about the gum; ill try it.

Oh god not the Highschool mile.. That was so depressing and eveven if you had a note from the doctor that said you weren't allowed to run.. Bastards !! I'm getting up early in the morning too but I'm still not allowed to jog/run cause of my knees but we can do it together :)

Kudos to you. So how did the jog go?

way to go! i never made the mile under 9 much less 8, but if you went over 10, you had to run the damn thing again.

i don't know about the gum...i find it makes my spit all thick and yucky. then i have problems breathing AND swallowing. anyways, keep it up!
