the magical un-rising yeast
ive been swamped with the newsletter at work, so its been quiet around here.
and now i think betty crocker has ganged up with my kitchenaid mixer to kill the spirit of gluttony this thanksgiving holiday. either that, or i really cannot bake rolls for crap. my chanting, 'rise, damn you! rise!' just was not helping matters. so off i go to the great safeway in the sky to buy frozen rolls.
i am so ashamed.

Be ye not ashamed. I burned out the motor on my mixer making pumpkin muffins this year. I still haven't recovered from the experience.
And mourn not the loss of the yeast. Sadly stores almost never rotate their stock of Fleichman's and folks simply don't look at the date. I've done it tons of times.
Honestly, it's just slightly better to get the little cubes of yeast in the dairy section, or ask if they have them in the bakery. They're usually far fresher.
Or you can tell folks that you've made festive pumpkin-cranberry crackers. Mmmm. (Now shut up and be thankful you have anything. There are starving children in Arminia.)
