Sesame Street Sketches

All of this talk (in the fragments, at least) about Sesame Street goodness got me reminiscing about my favorite sketches.

  • Bert doing 'The Pigeon'Bert doing "The Pigeon." Melissa would dance that until her neck fell off.
  • Ernie's "If I Could Imagine" song where he pretends to be a knight in shining armor and a sailor. He would save the day and then tip his hat.
  • Cookie monster taking a rocket to the moon to find it's made of a cookie, then eating the entire thing until the night is completely dark.
  • W-W-Wilamena!
  • Super Grover trying to help a little girl work her computer. Wubba-wubba-wubba-wubba.
  • Sesame Street News Flash. Kermit T. Frog here...
  • The yip-yip-yip-yip-uh-huh-uh-huh aliens.
  • Luis and Maria in full formal wear singing a rendition of "let's call the whole thing off" in an art gallery, and then ballroom dancing.
What were your favorites?

7 Love Notes

I always liked the ping-pong counting to 12 (onetwothree FOUR five, sixseveneight NINE ten, eleven, twe-e-e-e-elve!)
And Ernie singing to his rubber ducky.
And Big Bird's snoring.
And the sound of Oscar rummaging around in that impossibly big can.

My most favorite character even after all these years is Barkley the dog. He just never got enough screen-time.

Remember when Ernie sang about living on the moon? That one always made me cry.
Let's not forget Ernie singing "I Dance Myself to Sleep", when the sheep come in and pick up Bert's bed and carry him out the door.
My best friend and I still say "with a woooosh woooooosh here and a woooooosh wooooosh there" (from when Kermit T Frog from Sesame Street News interviewed Old McDonald about the spaceship).

Oh, and Put Down the Duckie (if you wanna play the saxophone)!! I sing that all the time.
And I think I mentioned "My Name is You"... it was one of those segment with the real kids.

...Okay, I'm shutting up now.

-tion shun, shun, shun, shun! I LOVE that song, it still goes through my head occasionally! and "the lady bugs picnic" counting song!

the shun song was from electric company, I just dloaded it! I heart the innnernet!

- Cookie Monster's Run DMC-ish "Healthy food" rap

- The Beetles "Letter B" song. Spelling words of wisdom, letter b.

- "We are all earthlings. Spinning around together, on a planet of the sun. Spinning around together...on a planet...of the...sun."
