People, strangers, have always had an opinion on my hair. It's so beautiful I should never cut it or ruin it in any way. Or it's so long and beautiful I should donate it, why be so selfish and keep it when there are people with cancer who need wigs?
But it's always the ones with short hair that tell me that it will always grow back. The hair! It grows! And then I punch them in the face because seriously, shut up.
My hair has been an integral part of my identity forever. I've never cut it, just trims here and there.
But I've talked about cutting it. At least once a month. For the last two years, longer. Always talk.
Because I knew I would cry.
And cry I did.

Well, it does frame your face much better like this. And seriously aren't you happy you had it cut rather discover about the random strangers that were standing behind you chewing on it?

I worked with a volunteer in Fairbanks that would. Not. Shut. Up. About my booooootiful hair. Right in front of his wife, too. He would reach out and touch it if I was helping him with his computer - it made me so uncomfortable that I took to always pulling it into a bun the days he volunteered. Ugh.
Is that why you always wear a bun at home?
It's easier to access so I can feed it to you in your sleep.
It looks amazing! When I did that to my hair last year, I also cried.

I think it looks great, and that's coming from an entirely disassociated 3rd party person who happens to commonly encourage his wife to let her hair grow.
